Located about 40 km beyond Bahrain, Kalam is widely admired for its sweeping natural views. One of the most striking vantage points is Matiltan, roughly 3,000 meters above sea level, where clear weather reveals dramatic mountain panoramas.
Approximately 2,001 meters in elevation, Kalam lies around 99 km north of Mingora, offering visitors a genuine upper Swat experience. The Swat River system also takes shape here, formed by the meeting of the Ushu and Utror rivers near Kalam.
For those seeking adventure, Mahodand Lake is a major highlight. Situated in the upper Ushu Valley about 40 km from Kalam, the lake rests at an elevation of 2,865 meters and is encircled by lush meadows, dense forests, and towering mountains, making it one of the region’s most scenic spots.
